Did you know that around 10 to 15% of couples in the US are affected by fertility issues? They are unable to conceive a child, which can be both distressing and devastating.

Of course – medical solutions in the form of fertility supplements and IVF exist. But there are natural routes to resolve the problem too.

So, in today’s post, let’s talk about how to increase fertility in natural ways. Read more!

Eat More But Better

Your diet plays the biggest role in fertility. Both men and women should eat a healthy, balanced diet that includes:

Antioxidants

they remove free radicals from the body that can be damaging to both egg cells and sperm. Folate, zinc, and vitamin C are some great antioxidants.

Fiber

it eliminates extra hormones and maintains a balanced blood sugar level.

Low Carbs

women with PCOS should eat fewer carbohydrates to reduce insulin levels, manage weight, and get regular periods.

Vegetable Protein

animal protein sources like eggs are good. But you should also focus on obtaining protein from nuts and beans.

Healthy Fats

trans fats (usually found in processed and baked goods) have a negative impact on insulin. This can increase infertility risks in women. So, choose healthy fats like vegetable oils, nuts, and fish.

Apart from all this, focus on eating a larger breakfast. A study has shown that larger breakfasts improve hormonal issues – especially in women with PCOS.

Let Go of the Stress

Stress can mess up your ability to have a child. The stress hormone, Cortisol, interrupts the communication between the brain and the ovaries. This results in irregular menstrual cycles and suppressed fertility.

So, if you want to increase fertility, focus on reducing the stress factors in your life. Are you working 24/7? Is there a toxic relationship in your life? Identify all the triggers and get rid of them.

Even if you can’t get rid of them, find ways to manage the stress. Try deep-breathing exercises, meditate, and seek support from your partner.

Focus on Staying Active

Regular exercise has proven to improve overall health and quality of life. It also has a positive impact on the reproductive system of both men and women.

Make sure to do a 30-minute workout session every day. Don’t jump onto intense and vigorous exercises. Instead, do moderate-level workouts.

If you don’t enjoy working out at home or going to the gym, try other methods of being physical. You can go swimming, cycling, hiking, and much more.

Avoid Caffeine & Alcohol

Both caffeine and alcohol are harmful in excess. If you’re consuming them in moderation, it’s okay, but too much can delay the time of pregnancy.

According to a study, women who consumed 500+ milligrams of caffeine every day took up to 9 ½ months to get pregnant. Another study showed that the consumption of 14+ alcoholic drinks in a week leads to infertility issues.

So, closely monitor the intake quantity, and if you can, it’s best to avoid them altogether. Try healthier, non-caffeine, and non-alcoholic options in life!
